Elizabeth Moore Reid (b. 1910)
Blues Guitarist Collettsville, NC “I play more in the evening. Anybody that plays, they take it in spells.” Elizabeth “Babe” Reid, her husband Fred, and her cousins Etta Baker and Cora Phillips are long-time musicians in the hills and hollows of Caldwell County. The Reids live on a mountain side overlooking Franklin Creek, where they sit on the porch and play, not much given to talk. When Babe and Fred put down their instruments to wait for a storm to pass, Babe Reid observed, “It ain’t done yet.” < > |
